Great shoot at a new wedding venue - well new insofar as they've just been granted a licence for civil ceremonies. They've been well known for some time for the fantastic receptions they host.

Wanted!

Expectant mums to enter the Kodak Portrait awards!
(The Kodak awards are sponsored by Kodak
and the MPA – Master Photographers Association)

O.K. you might think that this is a strange time to enter a portrait competition, but have you noticed how beautiful you are now you’re pregnant? Every entry fee to this competition (£1for each image submitted) goes directly to the charity PACE.

What’s so special about PACE? At PACE children with physical disabilities such as cerebral palsy find their own voice, walk their own steps and discover that they can fully enjoy everyday life and become active members of society. Cerebral palsy is a physical condition affecting movement as a result of damage to the brain.
(Thanks to http://www.thepacecentre.org/)

Maternity portraits capture that really special time – full of emotion and excitement. Your pregnancy shoot can include your partner and other children – remember, it’s also a special time for them!
Bare bump or covered bump – the choice is yours. Whichever style you choose, you will know that you’re helping children who need and deserve your support.
Phone now on 0845 3703839 or email: info@suziallen.com to make your appointment. Sessions are limited so book early to avoid disappointment.

Busy time in the studio

Lots of "Bump" shoots recently. I also had a lovely shoot with a 2 week old baby this week - working on that sitting shortly. I'm getting ready for the first judging of the Kodak awards - this is open to Professional Photographers throughout the UK. Thought I'd enter some of my pregnancy portraits this time.

Suzi's Bump shoots are photographed by her - not someone else. She has many years of experience in this field so you are guarenteed excellent results! Every session until August 2010 will have the opportunity to have an entry into the prestigious Kodak Awards.

In view of all the publicity surrounding wedding photography, I thought I'd post some from recent weddings here.

Remember - if you book a photographer who is a qualified member of The master Photogrgaphers Association, you know you'll get the results you want!

Warning!

Yesterday the National News was full of how one photographer has been allegedly sued for truly dreadful work - just one of the many currently giving true Professional Photographers a bad name. A lot of them are new to the profession, many are unqualified, untrained or even part-timers, doing a full time job in the week and just earning a bit of spare cash at the weekend.I am a member of the only UK Qualifying Body for Full Time Professional Photographers - The Master Photographers Association. There are other Associations which look very convincing but allow ANYBODY to be a member! My clients can ask the MPA for binding arbitration in the unlikely circumstance of there ever being a dispute that we could not resolve between us.Please ask questions of your Photographer: are they insured, do they have a recognised qualification, can you see THEIR work, do you like them as a person, are they passionate about what they do or is it just for that bit of extra cash?Price is important, but don't spoil the wedding by shopping for price alone. Every wedding takes us 30-40 hours of work and uses skill levels built from many years experience and on-going training, let alone the thousands of pounds of photographic and computing equipment and back-up spares that are needed. When you use a qualified member of the MPA you can relax in the knowledge that you’re employing a true professional.

What a busy wedding season! Lots of couples looking for a female wedding photographer in Somerset. I've been working at some really nice venues this year. Bindon house - always a nice place for a wedding. I've covered venues from Bristol to parts of Devon. I recently photographed a wedding in my old home town of Exmouth. Weddings are now booked until 3 days before Christmas! Yes - 22nd December is my last one before we finish for the Christmas break.

Pregnancy shoots are becoming more and more popular. It's so comfortable for Mum-to-be to come to a peaceful, female-run studio for her pregnancy shoot. I do enjoy these sessions. It's such a special time - to be able to photograph someone when they're about to bring this new being into the world. Some coules (we love to see the expectant father as well) decide on an album of their Bump Shoot while others go for something special to hang on the bedroom wall. Either way, pregnancy portraiture certainly is in demand these days.
