Had a wedding with a difference recently. I thought you might like to see some of the fire lanterns!

How about these for lights?

Coming to the end of the wedding season now. I’ve been so lucky with my couples again this year – what lovely people. I’ve photographed weddings all over the South West – Devon, Somerset, Bristol. Some really beautiful venues – Stoodleigh Court in Devon, Thurlestone, Hestercombe Gardens, Tone Dale House, St. Audries, Nettlecombe, Lord Haldon Hotel Dunchideock – to name but a few. Some great pictures as well!

Watch out for the new publication from Archant in January – Guide for the South West Bride. You may see some of my wedding pictures in there! The magazine is linked to the wedding fair being held at Powderham Castle, just outside Exeter – 28th February and 1st March 2009. Come and see me – I shall be in the marquee.

I had a very good day at Bindon House wedding fair in October. What a lovely venue for your wedding and reception. The people are so friendly - it's so nice to work in such a friendly atmosphere. Maybe I'll be able to photograph your wedding at Bindon House!

Pregnancy shoots are still as popular as ever – I really enjoy these. Mums-2-Be come in to the studio, where I have a female assistant with me for the day, and spend between 1 and 2 hours enjoying a special photo-shoot with me. I usually prefer to work in Black & White for these sessions, but if you prefer colour then that’s O.K. These sessions are really personal and I work with the mums – and dads – to produce some wall art that they will want to keep for ever. I would love to show you lots of results, but, because of their very nature, can only show a very few – either on my website or sometimes here on the blog. If you’re expecting, why not give me a ring and we can have a chat about what you’d like to see in the way of pictures. Tel: 0845 3703839. Some mums have travelled more than 2 hours by car to come to the studio – simply because they know we will be really relaxed and so they will fell at ease and so get the pictures they really want. 32 – 35 weeks is the very best time to photograph your bump. By then you’ll find your baby is making a great shape to photograph. You will be just glowing with health. Dads are very welcome to come and join in – they need to be included in the development stages and enjoy the expectancy!

Goodness! I haven’t put anything on my blog for ages.
Well, it’s been a strange summer. I’ve had everything from floods to brilliant sunshine for weddings this year. Here’s just a couple of pictures – one on a very wet day and the other on what must have been the sunniest day of the year!

I've also been busy with more pregnancy shoots. These bump shoots certainly are becoming popular! Mums to be have been travelling a long way to come to me for their sessions. I guess what makes it more comfortable for them, is the fact that I run a female only studio for maternity sittings. Even fathers to be seem to relax in this set-up! http://www.suziallen.com

Had an interesting day last week - photographing a garden. These gardens were beautiful and had been open to the public to raise funds for charity. I had a wonderful time photographing trees and flowers in a lovely setting.

Did a lovely shoot for a hotel recently. Take a look at these and see what you think.

Had a great day at Clevedon photographing the Women in Business Conference. Here are a few pics for you to see. It was an excellent networking day and we learned a lot about making the most of our potential.

It’s been a while since I put something on to my blog. Well, we had a few days away in France. It was lovely to get away from it all for a while. We go over there a couple of times each year. It’s so easy to cross from Plymouth to Roscoff. The weather was wonderful – we were able to sit on the beach for our picnics! Even caught the sun a bit.

Well, back home and back to work again. Last year I was lucky enough to photograph a Women’s Business Conference in Taunton (I’ve posted a few of the pictures here) and they’re about to hold another conference, at the beginning of June. Again, I’m photographing the event. I really enjoy these days. Although I’m mainly known as a wedding photographer in Somerset, the skills I use for these documentary shoots are exactly the same. It’s great to do something a little different now and then – keeps me on my toes!

The Kodak Wedding & Portrait Awards are here again and I’ve been busy sorting my entries. I’ve got some stunning wedding photographs to enter as well as a couple of portraits. The first judging is at the end of May, with the second round towards the end of August. It would be great if one of my customers could win – the first overall prize for them would be £1000! Fingers and toes crossed!

Just a couple of "Bump" photographs I thought you might like to see. The pregnancy photography really is taking off. I'm finding "Mums to be" are very comfortable having a female photographer for these sittings. If you're expecting, give me a ring or drop me an email - contact details are on my website: http://www.suziallen.com/ and find out what it's all about!

Thought you might like to see a few pics from a recent wedding. Although the sun was shining for most of the day, it was bitterly cold!
I'm getting really busy with weddings now - lots of people looking for a female wedding photographer in Somerset. This year I'm photographing weddings in Somerset, Devon and around the whole of the South West.
Had a lovely couple come to see me yesterday. They're getting married later in the year and I've been asked to photograph the wedding at Stoodleigh Court, near Tiverton. I'm very lucky, being able to do something that I really love, and getting to meet such great people.
Well, must away and do some more towards the design of a beautiful wedding album.

This last week has been so busy! I’ve been getting ready for the Wedding Fair at Woodbury Park this coming Sunday, 13th April. Make sure you come and see me – there will be a “Show Special” available for those booking on the day.

Lots of weddings coming up and I’m travelling all over the South West for them – Devon, Cornwall, Somerset, Dorset. I am so lucky to be able to see all these beautiful places and do something I really love – photograph weddings!

The weather is getting better now, although I did have a wedding on Easter Saturday when it kept trying to snow! If you book a qualified professional wedding photographer then the weather shouldn’t matter for the photography anyway – we should all be able to produce stunning pictures for you, no matter what!

Well, I must away and do some work – got a couple coming in this evening to have a slide-show of all their wedding photographs. I love this bit, couples are always so surprised at what we manage to capture. Every picture they see should jog a memory of the day.

Remember, come and see me at Woodbury Park this Sunday, 10.00a.m. until 4.00p.m.

Another week gone by! Well, my “Bump” page is up and running now. You can see it on http://www.suziallen.com/

I had a wedding on Easter Saturday – when it snowed on and off!! The bride was very brave – wanted lots of pictures taken outside. No problem – it was lovely and sunny in between the snow! It’s great to photograph weddings in Devon – up in the hills with all that beautiful scenery. Although I’m a wedding photographer in Somerset, as you know, I go all over – Devon, Somerset, Cornwall – in fact the whole of the South West. Being a female wedding photographer means I get to enjoy the excitement of the getting ready shots with the bride and bridesmaids. I really love my job as a wedding photographer.

As well as the “Bump Shots” on my website, I’m now able to provide a gallery for all wedding couples. Very useful if friends and family are not living nearby. I can create your very own “Site within a Site” so your family and friends can choose their own wedding photographs from your special day.

This week I shall be getting ready for the Wedding Fair at Woodbury Park, near Exeter. That’s on Sunday 13th April. Come and see me in the Greg Norman Suite. I shall have some of my favourite wedding pictures and wedding albums with me.

Don’t forget, if you’re looking for a female photographer in Taunton, I’m not far from the M5.

Well, Westpoint – The Real Brides Show – was fantastic! I think it must have been the busiest wedding fair I’ve exhibited at, to date. It was great to meet all of you who came to my stand. Hope the wedding plans are moving forward and you’re all getting excited about that special day.
Here are a couple of shots from a recent wedding – lovely day and the couple were great people.

Getting ready for Real Brides Show

Well, another busy week. This coming Saturday and Sunday, 15th & 16th March, I shall be exhibiting at Westpoint, near Exeter. It's time for the Spring Real Brides Show. Come and see me on stand L13, where you can find out about my lovely "Show Special" for those of you booking at the show. (There will also be something "Extra" for bookings received within 7 days of the show.)

Last week's "Bump" session went really well. Mum and Dad were very pleased with the pictures and are looking forward to getting their framed photographs. Their little boy is really excited and looking forward to having a baby brother or sister. The pregnancy photography really is proving popular. I think it's nice that mums can come to a studio where it's quiet with no-one else around. Not like in a shop with other people in and out. I have a female assistant with me for pregnancy shoots, so it feels comfortable for all concerned.

Can't spend long on here today as I have to get everything ready for The Real Brides Show at Westpoint. See you there!

Saturday 1st March

Had a lovely wedding last weekend. Started off with the bride getting ready for her wedding ceremony at Taunton School, followed by the reception at Tone Dale House in Wellington. It’s lovely being able to be a part of that “Girlie” time while the bride and bridesmaids are getting dressed. I was able to take some beautiful pictures of the girls getting ready, while William went along with the groom and the rest of the boys. It does work well, being a female photographer and having a male photographer with me. We work together as a great team.
I’ve now finished sorting through all the wonderful photographs we took and this couple will be able to have a truly individual wedding album. I love designing wedding albums – of course the couple are able to “Proof” the design before I finally have their wedding album produced. Black and white pictures are so classic, but the colour photographs remind us of the fashions of the day. It’s so important to have a good photographic record of your wedding day.

Something new – got a “Bump Shoot” coming in next week. What a great way to celebrate your pregnancy! Being a female photographer, it’s really comfortable for “mum to be” to be in the studio with me. We can have a chat and enjoy the session. A lot of mums realise when they reach their second pregnancy, that they would love to have a photographic record of the baby bump. Of course, I'd love to see you for your "Bump Shoot" whether it's for pregnancy number 1 or whatever! This is a very special time and the great majority of expectant mothers are really blooming with health when carrying a baby. Pregnancy photography is becoming more and more popular and it’s something that as a female photographer with children myself,I can really help you enjoy this experience.

Well, I must go and do some more work. Hope the wind dies down today – it really was rough last night!

Don’t forget, you can see some of my wedding photographs at http://www.suziallen.com/
P.S. Look out for the new “Bump” page in the near future.

Suzi's blog

Well, I've been thinking about starting a blog for ages and finally got round to doing it! Wonder how this will work?

Been very busy lately - organising things for the wedding season. I really love photographing weddings and travel all over the Weest Country - Devon, Cornwall, Somerset... This year I've got some lovely weddings lined up. Some will be in the countryside and others in the big cities like Exeter.

Next month - March - I shall be going to Westpoint in Exeter for The Real Brides Show. This is the biggest wedding fair in the area. I do hope I meet some of you there. Come and visit my stand and see my new wedding albums. I expect there'll be a "Show Special" for those of you who book quickly.

Hope the weather holds out - got a wedding on Saturday and would rather it stayed dry for all concerned!
